Prologue: 50 Year Past
Inside the Space Colony ARK, as it circled the planet below, a young human girl named Maria Robotnik counted to 50 while standing in a corner. “48...49...50. Ready or not, here I come!!” She yelled out before running down the hall.
She was playing hide and seek with her two best friends. She searched every room on the west side of the colony while trying to be as quiet as possible when passing the lab rooms and the conference room since her grandfather was in there giving a meeting to discuss future experiments and events. She entered a room that used to belong to her before she was moved to the north wing and saw a shadow from the light that entered through the window.
“Found you, Shadow!” She said looking behind the shelf that was next to the window.
“Dang, I thought you wouldn’t find me yet.” He said as he stood up although he looked like and acted like a teenager he was really only ten years old.
“Next time you might want to close the curtains so the light doesn’t create shadows.” Maria said showing her gentle smile “Come on lets go look for Miyu.” She said as they left to find the last player.
“I wonder where she’s hiding this time normally you’re the last one to find.” Maria said looking at shadow as they entered the hall. Maria took a deep breath and yelled out “Olli Olli oxen free.” After she finished a cabinet door opened to reveal a five year old girl who looked almost identical to Maria. “Nice hiding spot Miyu, you won this time.”
“Aw, what’s wrong big brother upset that I won for once.” Miyu said looking very pleased at Shadow.
“I can’t believe that you won either.” Maria said looking at the sibling experiments.
Miyu, like Shadow, was created by Professor Gerald Robotnik. She was created using Marias blood and the light of a comets tail. She looked like Maria in every aspect the only way to tell them apart was that the comet's light made miyu’s hair the shade of ice blue and her eyes were a sea deep blue. For some reason, although she had the same blood as Maria she did not have the NIDS illness that Maria suffers from.
She was also shown to have small amounts of power but could not control them. The Professor had her going through a training program that would allow her to control her powers.
Suddenly the entire colony started to shake and soon a wall was blown down. The three of them soon stood face to face with some G.U.N soldiers. “There they are. Hand over Project: Shadow and Project: Angel and nobody will get hurt.” The lead solider said as he approached the group. “Oh, no. Run guys!” Maria shouted as Shadow grabbed her and Miyu by the hands.
They ran past the labs and many other rooms trying to get away from the soldiers. “Shadow, What about the Professor. We have to get him.” Miyu said as the entered another hall. They stopped when they saw some soldiers getting into a pod that was set for earth.
“Commander, we have captured Professor Gerald and are taking him to HQ.” “Good work, solider. Now capture the targets!” “Yes sir.” “We need to get out of here the emergency escape pods should be in the next section.” Maria said as Shadow grabbed her and Miyu again.
He shot through the group of soldiers but one noticed the gush of wind going to the next room and went to investigate. He heard a few voices beyond the door.
“Does this pod go to earth, Maria?” “I think so Shadow it already has coordinates put in.” “Can it hold all three of us?” “No I don’t think so Miyu only one of us. Miyu can take this one; we can go to the others in the center control room.” Maria said with the two of them nodding their heads. The solider watched as Maria put a little girl in the pod and realized that the two with her were the targets.
He tried to open the door but it was stuck. He finally got the door opened as Maria pressed the eject button. The last thing Miyu saw before she was sent out was Shadow grabbing Maria's hand again and running down the hall towards the other escape pods.
She turned her sight toward the bright blue planet that was earth but found that it was getting smaller instead of larger. She pressed a button that would tell her where she was going. The pod was set to go to a planet called Kaiya. It would be years before she would ever find out the fate of her family.
